Petzl Ascension Hand Ascender
The Petzl Ascension hand ascender is designed for rope ascents. It has a wide lower hole for easily attaching two carabiners for a lanyard and footloop. The Petzl Ascension features an overmolded grip and an ergonomic upper part for a comfortable and powerful grip when pulling with one or two hands.

Very useful
I bought primarily as a hand grab for SRT climbing but quickly found additional uses. Besides being a climbing aid, I use it as lifting/ lowering device that is midline attachable, and also as a pulley attachment point for a rope tensioning system.
Always on my harness
Lots of uses for this guy! Turn srt to mrs, help with ascending, set an attachment point on rope to lower tools, very useful
Easy to grab
The Petzl Ascension Hand Ascender has a handle that is very big which allows for easy handling and climbing.
Solid, comfortable handle
There are some things that Petzl just does better...and this is one of them. This thing is super comfortable, and the locking mechanism that keeps it from opening on accident is within easy reach of a thumb. They've put enough rated holes on the Ascension for plenty of tethering options if you're wanting to attach it to your harness, add a pulley for mechanical advantage, or have a backup system chained on above the ascender. Very clean, very smooth, well-functioning device. Beats the heck out of my old beat up Kong.
ergonomic
I bought this with a petzl roll lock carabiner to make a 3 to 1 MA for use in a SRS system, but have also used the Petzl Ascension in other progress capture systems. Easy to open and quick to install.
Multiple uses and very "Handy".
I have used this Petzl ascender for SRT with I'D descender and foot loop. Incorporating a pulley on the ascender it works very well for this purpose. Also, I use the Petzl Ascension as a progressive device when doing a traverse.
Comfortable handle.
I don't like grabbing with my hands, I feel it's too small and it tears up my hands. when ascending. This Petzl Ascension hand ascender solved my problem. I keep both hands on it and slide it up as I go. It has a comfortable handle to hold on to.

As an "older" climber grabbing the rope can be painful day in and day out. This ascender allows me to ascenx quickly without cramping in the hand. The Petzl Ascension also works will with tensioning a rope in a 3 to 1 ratio for example
