It’s decent
The ascender is well built and durable. The straps aren’t great. They frayed on the ends after a couple of uses. It is big and sometimes it makes maneuvering through a crotch more difficult. But overall this is a good ascender.

Lasts forever , bulky
I inherited one of these CMI foot ascenders from my coworker who got it from his first boss. The thing is OLD but works great. I agree it can beat up the trees in a crotch, and occasionally when I get down and start dragging brush, it's so bulky it will slam into my other ankle bone . I'll probably switch to something a bit more low profile. But for now I'm walking like a cowboy when I get out of the tree.
A freakin’ Tank!
This thing is a beast! Not too rough on rope though considering. Die hard gear right here! The CMI foot ascender is the only one I need.
Definitely not my favorite. But tough
This ascender and footstrap are tough. And bulky, but mainly tough. It works well, but can beat the trees up a bit if you aren't careful. Would be 4 stars if it was easier to be careful in crotches with.
